HAYABUSA

Shining Innovation
Buffing pads, as a polishing tool, have a long history.
Inheriting technology, preserving tradition,
and always being “innovative”.
That is the “core” of HAYABUSA.
We harmonize tradition and innovation
and appreciate the future one step ahead.
We will keep developing the HAYABUSA brand based on this belief.

Concept
HAYABUSAへの思い

Polishing is the process that affects the beautiful finishing of paint correction and maintenance. The most important and indispensable tools for this work are the buffing pads. Buffing pads never play leading roles in the polishing process, but they do play essential supporting roles that maximize the performance of the polishers and abrasives. In order to always provide the best buffing pads, we have developed numerous pads by analyzing the evolution of automotive coating technology and the latest trends in the market. Among them, the HAYABUSA series, which was released in 2020, is being used as an unprecedented product that combines Japanese high quality and efficiency. This time, in order to further improve quality, we have implemented a full renewal of the buffing pad category and integrated it into "鸇 HAYABUSA" brand.

When you hear the word HAYABUSA in Japan, the first thing that comes to mind is the general term for birds of the Peregrine Falcon family, the nickname for the special express trains operated by the Shinkansen, and the name for the asteroid explorer. The brand name evokes a sense of speed and the latest technology, with the idea of "always looking to new fields and continuing to be creative." The reason why we adopted a single kanji character for the head is to impress the world as a Japanese brand with a Japanese taste. It also means flying toward the future with a sense of speed like a falcon. In this way, 鸇 HAYABUSA was born as a comprehensive buffing pad brand that supports your polishing works.

History
バフの歴史

Face the history, create the future.

We have been developing numerous buffing pads optimized for polishing work for a quarter of a century since our founding.
While continuing to focus on quality and develop various products, we have reached two turning points until today.

The 1990s - "Evolution of paints and polishes"

In the 1990s, drivers started to value economic efficiency, and fuel-efficient vehicles like hybrid vehicles appeared on the market. Types of paint became even more diverse, leading to the emergence of wide-range polishes. We started developing the wool buffing pads that bring out 100% of the performances of these polishes, and various wool pads such as Feather Eyas were born.

The 2010s - "Trends of polishers"

The 2010s saw the development of automobile electrification technology and the commercialization of autonomous driving. While LTP*, such as RUPES, is becoming mainstream polishing equipment instead of rotary polishers, we developed the MOLT series dedicated to using LTP*. After that, the Casper series optimized also for rotary polishers is added. We have expanded the LTP* compatible series.

"What should be a new buffing pad that is different from the existing pads?" This question suddenly popped into our head during the development of MOLT. It was when the HAYABUSA brand was born. It didn't take long to find the answer, and we integrated buffing pads into one brand with an eye to the future.

Correlation between the backing pad's and buffing pad's diameter.

In recent years, LTP* has become the mainstream polishing tool used in the car detailing market and the auto body work & paint.
With this trend, buffing pads are mainly used with three backing pads' diameters: 150mm, 125mm, and 75mm.
You can use your backing pad to choose the best buffing pad size by matching the pad diameters in blue in the sizing chart.

There are mainly four types of machine used in the polishing process of automobile paint: "rotary action polishers", "LTP* (random orbital polishers)", "gear-driven action polishers", and "triple action polishers". Each of these has different characteristics.

ROTARY

Rotary Action

A standard type used in polishing work. Due to its strong torque and high polishing power, it easily generates swirling marks and frictional heat. If you get used to handling it, it will become a tool with less vibration level than other types and excellent polishing efficiency.

LONG THROW

Long Throw Action (Random Orbital Action)

LTP* is a type that is becoming mainstream in recent years. The backing pad moves according to a relatively large eccentric width (orbit), and the central axis on the polisher body side moves freely and does not rotate forcibly. It always rotates freely at different speeds due to the balance between the centrifugal force generated by eccentricity and the frictional force on the target surface.

GEAR-DRIVEN

Gear-driven Action

A type that adds irregular motion to rotation. The backing pad moves according to the orbit (eccentric width), and at the same time, the central axis on the polisher body side is forcibly rotated by the action of the gear. When the gear operates, the torque becomes stronger than LTP*, and the vibration also increases accordingly.*LTP = Long Throw Polisher (a.k.a. random orbital polisher)

TRIPLE

Triple Action

A type with the new mechanism which greatly improved functionality. The power of the motor is reflected in the torque without waste. Similar to the movement of LTP*, the backing pad rotates freely around the central axis of the main body according to the orbit (eccentric width). At the same time, the epicyclic gear reducer properly controls rotations and significantly improves torque, achieving more efficient polishing.
